# Multiply multi-digit whole numbers

Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

## Video Lessons

• #### Use an array to multiply a two-digit number by a one-digit number

In this lesson, you will learn strategies for multiplying 2 digit by 1 digit numbers... by breaking apart their arrays into easily manageable multipliers.

• #### Use place value understanding to multiply three- and four-digit numbers

In this lesson, you will learn how to organize the steps to solve a multi-digit multiplication problem... by setting up an area model of multiplication.

• #### Use an area model for multiplication of two-digit numbers by two-digit numbers

In this lesson you will learn how to multiply a 2 digit number by another 2 digit number by applying your understanding of the area model for multiplication.

• #### Use an area model to multiply a three-digit number by a one-digit number

In this lesson, you will learn how to multiply a 3 digit number by a 1 digit number by drawing an area model to organize your thinking.
