In this lesson set, students will engage in creating a persuasive writing piece. Persuasive writing is a unique subset of argumentative writing.

Interpreting a persuasive writing prompt, brainstorming topics, planning a response, and drafting and revising for the prompt: Many schools struggle with whether or not students should be allowed to have cell phones in school. There are many benefits to allowing cell phones, but there are also many draw backs. Think about whether or not you think cell phones should be allowed in school. Write a letter to your principal that states your position on this topic. Be sure to support your opinion with evidence.
