Big Ideas: Some measurement units are related (e.g. yards, feet, inches) Two amounts of different but related units can equal the same quantity (MP2) Conversion tables are good tools for identifying patterns and for solving measurement problems (MP7) In this lesson, students use tables in order to convert large units of measurement into smaller units. Students will recognize the use of conversion tables make solving measurement conversion problems much simpler. Conversion tables are the primary mathematical representation for 4.MD.A.1.
