Big Ideas: A qualitative graph can communicate a large amount of information. The ability to interpret a graphs is essential to understanding the information contained within them. Students observe various shaped containers and sketch graphs of the containers being filled at a constant rate. Students understand that the parts of a container with combined parts fill at a similar rate as the part if it is separated. Students understand that graph communicate information about what is occurring in a situation. Special Materials: Graph paper Straight edge or ruler
