This lesson focuses on examining the text in order to determine the structure that Erin Sawyer used to describe the events in Pocahontas' life. The day begins with a rereading of the entire text, revisiting the important events n Pocahontas' life. Students may work in a small group or with a partner as they work to answer the text dependent questions, recording their answers on the student guided notes sheet. Following the questions, students will revisit the text and discuss events that they feel are essential to describing Pocahontas' life. Students will work independently to complete a timeline of Pocahontas' life.
