Big Ideas:
Congruent triangles can be used to prove properties of parallelograms.
In this lesson students will observe that the diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other. They will use their knowledge of congruent triangles and transversals to formally prove this observation.
Vocabulary:
parallelogram, opposite angles, opposite sides, congruent, congruent triangles, bisect
Special Materials:
Parallelograms for students to cut out, measure, etc.
Scissors
Rulers
Protractors
Graph Paper (optional)
