Big Ideas: Skip counting can be used to add the same numbers together multiple times. This lesson builds upon students' skip counting understanding. In this task students are not counting groups of objects, but are instead using skip counting in a more abstract way. The character in the task plays a game where different candies are worth different point values and students must determine which candies she could have acquired to achieve a given score. Students are given the opportunity to answer in many different ways and can use many different strategies to solve. Special Materials: Counters or cubes
