Big Ideas: Students will be able to construct a circumcenter and the circumscribed circle of a triangle and justify each step of the construction. This lesson takes place after students have learned about basic constructions such as congruent segments and angles, angle bisectors, and perpendicular bisectors. Students will be asked to discover the construction of the circumcenter, and discover the definition of a circumcenter. Students will use this information again when working with circles later on in geometry. Special Materials: pencil compass straightedge
