The initial driving question for this unit is: "How does the definition of the rock cycle support the title the author chose for the chapter, “Earth’s Changing Surface: Rocks and Minerals”?" Students need to be able to understand the connection between the information provided in Chapter 2 and the title of the unit. While this LearnZillion unit will focus on Chapter 2 due to the text complexity, vocabulary, and complex concepts, it is recommended that students read and are familiar with Chapter 1. This will help the reader understand the author’s style and craft, as well as the organization of the overall text.
