Big Ideas: Volume is a unique attribute of solids that explains how much space an object takes up. Objects with the same volume can have a different shape or form, yet take up the same amount of space. This lesson stretches students to demonstrate the understanding that the same volume can be represented in a variety of ways. It builds on students’ work with observing and investigating volume in many forms using a range of strategies. In addition, the lesson allows students practical opportunities to apply what they know and make inferences based on their learning and understanding so far. Vocabulary: cubic units, mL, cubic centimeter, convert, conversion
