Big Idea: Numbers can be decomposed and recombined many different ways. This lesson builds on students' understanding of combinations of ten and of decomposing numbers as a strategy to add. The task suggests that combinations of ten can be used to solve other equations. Students model different ways of combining numbers into tens.
