Big Ideas: Fractional coefficients follow the same rules as integers. Linear equations can be solved by using inverse operations. This lesson presents a real world situation that requires writing and solving a single variable equation with a fractional coefficient. Students will combine a fractional coefficient with a whole number coefficient to solve. The task gives students an opportunity to apply integer rules and inverse operations when solving equations involving fractions. Vocabulary: reciprocal, common denominator
