In the associated Algebra 1 lesson, students are presented with bivariate data in tables and need to decide what type of model to use, create a model, and use the model to make predictions. This lesson gives students an opportunity to practice some discrete skills that are used in this work in a more scaffolded way (MP4).
Lesson overview
- 21.1 Warm-up: Which One Doesn’t Belong: Lists (5 minutes)
- 21.2 Activity: Holy Agave! (15 minutes)
- 21.3 Activity: Let’s Model Some Stuff (20 minutes)
Learning goals:
- Model some given data with a function, and interpret the function, in a scaffolded way.
Learning goals (student facing):
- Let’s practice our skills for modeling with mathematics.
