Lesson objective: Count dot card arrangements accurately and build the same amount on a double ten frame.

This lesson helps to build fluency with accurately counting dot card arrangements and representing that same amount with counters on ten frames. This work develops students' understanding that a set or group of objects can be arranged in a variety of ways and the amount remains the same. Students understand that they can count the same quantity in a different arrangement.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 6 (Attend to precision) as they learn and apply strategies to count accurately. Students understand that they can count the same quantity in different arrangements. The ten frames are effecitive tools for students to keep track of how many they are counting.
