Lesson objective: Practice skip counting by fives.

This lesson helps to build procedural skills with skip counting by fives. A number line is used here because it supports students' ability to mentally skip count by fives. This work develops students' understanding that we can use skip counting by fives and tens to tell and write time on both analog and digital clocks.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 7 (Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning) as they notice the pattern in the numbers when skip counting and apply this understanding to telling time to the nearest five minutes. Multiple representations will be used including number lines, hundreds charts, five frames, and counting strips.
