Lesson objective: Fluenty use a number line to represent negative numbers.

This lesson helps to build fluency with using a number line to plot negative numbers. Number lines are used here because it supports student's understanding of a number's distance and direction from zero. This work develops students' understanding that the number line can show both distance and direction; the sets of positive and negative numbers exist in opposite directions from 0.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice #2 (Students reason abstractly and quantitatively) as they build their understanding of integers on the number line.
