Lesson objective: Fluently name corresponding sides and angles on images that have been transformed.

This lesson helps to build fluency with naming corresponding sides and angles.  This work develops students' understanding that figures that have measures (length of segments, angle measures) are taken to congruent figures and that corresponding components are congruent.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 6 (Attend to Precision) as they accurately name the sides and angles that are congruent when looking at images that have been transformed.

Key vocabulary:

  • congruence
  • corresponding angles
  • corresponding sides
  • image
  • preimage
  • reflections
  • rotations
  • translations
