Lesson objective: Fluently identify the rigid transformations.

This lesson helps to build fluency with identifying rigid transformations.  This work develops students' understanding that the three rigid transformations are rotations, reflections, and translations.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 4 (Attend to Precision) as they differentiate between the three types of rigid transformations.

Key vocabulary:

  • congruent
  • direction
  • orientation
  • position
  • reflections
  • rigid transformations
  • rotations
  • translations
