Lesson objective: Count out a given number of objects.
This lesson helps to build fluency with counting objects within 5. Blocks and five frames are used here because they support the development of counting skills and help students develop a visual image of numbers in their minds. This work develops students' understanding that the last number said when counting a collection tells the quantitiy of objects in the collection.
Students engage in Mathematical Practice 6 (Attend to precision.) as they count objects carefully, ensuring that each object is counted once and only once.
