Grade 5 - 5 - "Hallelujah I'm A Traveling" Song

In this lesson students will be analyzing the historical references to the Civil Rights Movement included in the lyrics of "Hallelujah I'm Traveling", a song included in the Sit-in Songs songbook included in the D.C. Public Library's Poor People's Campaign Collection. With the aid of the teacher providing some historical context the students will annotate the lyrics of the song. Students will be tracking their learning on a "Hallelujah I'm a Traveling" handout throughout the activity.
