Big Ideas: Add or remove partitioning lines to number line intervals to determine if fractions are equivalent. Recognize fractions as equivalent if they are at the same point on a number line. This lesson builds on student's understanding of identifying whole numbers as lengths on a number line. The task requires students to identify equivalent fractional amounts on a number line. This builds toward student understanding of comparing fractional amounts. Vocabulary: numerator, denominator, equivalent, fraction, number line diagram, point, partition, whole number, interval, unit fraction Special Materials: None
