Lesson objective: Fluently connect fraction division with fraction multiplication and make sense of fraction division situations.

This lesson helps to build fluency with making sense of fraction division. Number lines and area models are used here because students need to be able to connect multiple types of visual models to make sense of fraction division situations. This work develops students' understanding that the connection between multiplication and division extends to situations in which it is necessary to divide fractions by fractions.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 1 (Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them) as they explore the connection between fraction division and multiplication, various types of fraction models and situations.
