Lesson objective: Examine volume statements for validity and apply understanding of volume to address mistakes within statements.
This lesson helps to build procedural skills with volume formulas.
Students engage in Mathematical Practice 7 (Look for and make use of structure) as they analyze mathematical statements for validity by connecting the structure to multiplicative reasoning, recognizing the iteration of layers when computing volume. Students recognize a change in the order of numbers in a multiplication equation results in an equivalent product.
