Lesson objective: Determine if an ordered pair is a solution to a system with two variables and two conditions, often represented by two equations.

This lesson helps to build procedural skill with checking solutions to systems of equations. Equations and verbal descriptions are used here because they support the concept of mathematically true relationships. This work develops students' understanding that an ordered pair of values is a solution to a system of equations if it makes both equations true.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 2 (reason abstractly and quantitatively) as they consider if an ordered pair of values make more than one condition mathematically true, such as two equations in a system.
