Lesson objective: Fluently find the area of a circle when given the circumference or fluently find the circumference when given the area of a circle.

This lesson helps to build fluency with solving circle formulas relating circumference and area. Real world examples are used here because they supports student insight when finding different aspects of circles (area and circumference). This work develops students' understanding that circles have area like any other shape and the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its radius is called Pi (π).

Students engage in Mathematical Practice #8 (Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning) as they find one characteristic of a circle (the area or the circumference) when given another characteristic.
