Lesson objective: Draw nets of pyramids and prisms.

This lesson helps to build the procedural skill of drawing nets of three dimensional figures. Transparent three-dimensional figures are used here because they help students see all of the faces of the figures. This work develops students' understanding that nets of three dimensional figures allow us to see all of the faces of the figure at once.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 4 (Model with Mathematics) as they use nets of pyramids and prisms to make connections between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional figures.

Students engage in Mathematical Practice 7 (Look for and Make Use of Structure) as they use nets to understand the properties of pyramids and prisms.
