Big Idea: Equivalence of angles can be represented in many ways. This task requires students to draw on prior knowledge of triangle angle sum, exterior and remote interior angle relationships as well as angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal. It combines all angle relationships into one diagram and has students determine reasoning and justification in multiple ways. The task gives a real world scenario to the different angle and line relationships. Students will understand that there is more than one way to get to the correct answer. Vocabulary: parallel, perpendicular, vertical, triangle angle sum, remote interior angles, exterior angles, corresponding angles, same side interior angles, alternate interior and alternate exterior angles, supplementary, linear pair Special Materials: Hand out for task (optional) Rulers or straight edge for problem sets Hand out for Formative Assessment (optional)
