Big Ideas: Every point in the coordinate plane has a specific pair of coordinates indicating its location. This lesson builds on students' ability to recognize traits of a point's coordinates and general knowledge of the coordinate plane. The task is built to help students build fluency graphing and finding coordinates on the coordinate plane. Students are given a limited range as to where their points could fall, but more flexibility as to where they can place obstacles. This lesson builds towards students' ability to graph geometric figures and algebraic relationships on a coordinate plane. Vocabulary: coordinates, coordinate plane, quadrants of the coordinate plane, x-axis, y-axis Special Materials: graph paper or premade coordinate plane worksheets
