Big Ideas:
We can graph polygons on the coordinate plane and find the location of missing vertices using knowledge of polygons and the distance between two coordinates.
This lesson builds on students' ability to identify polygons and graph ordered pairs in the coordinate plane. The task asks students to draw known polygons on the coordinate plane given certain conditions. It is too complex to expect students to derive the measurements of non-horizontal and non-vertical segments and the angles they create. However, students should be able to draw a figure that is visually accurate based on their knowledge on the properties of polygons. This lesson builds towards students' ability to solve for perimeter and area of polygons on the coordinate plane and other real-world applications.
