Lesson 6: Analyze Orwell’s use of rhetoric and how it reveals his purpose

Students read “Politics and the English Language” to find examples of rhetoric: ethos, logos, pathos, diction, imagery, details, figurative language, and syntax. They also write a rhetorical analysis to connect those devices with Orwell’s purpose to identify and remedy the issues with modern language.
