The text structure that the author uses in this poem is chronology. The use of a chronological text structure helps the reader to follow along with the story more easily and understand how the events of this historic night unfolded. In this lesson, students are led to discover the text structure and understand how the author's use of chronology (or sequence of events) helps the reader to better comprehend the story that is told in the poem.
