On the first day, students will be introduced to unknown vocabulary words that appear in the anchor text "Living with Animals." Students will listen to a read aloud of the text. It is important for the teacher to stop and highlight the vocabulary words in context. In the upcoming days, students will build on this initial reading by answering text-dependent questions and participating in teacher guided think-alouds. Each day's lesson will help students synthesize the main ideas of the text and apply their understanding to answer the culminating question on day 5.
