This lesson builds on students’ work with ratio and scale factors. In this task, students will create a ratio table and equation from a ratio to see how a ratio affects the size of a 3D printed figurine. The task helps build toward representing proportional relationships by equations, constructing simple equations to solve problems, and computing with rational numbers. Big Ideas: A ratio can be represented in a table and as an equation. An equation can be constructed from a ratio table. Vocabulary: equation, input, output Special Materials: Rulers or yardsticks
