Students will understand that linear models are used to make accurate predictions. The suggested public discussion of student work shows solution paths that are connected through the use of linear regression. Three pieces of work are shown. The first shows the student used the calculator to find the linear regression model, but used rate of change to predict hand spread. The second shows the student used the calculator to find the linear regression model, but then used the given hand spreads in the regression model to make a prediction. The third shows the student used the calculator to find the linear regression model, but used the table function on the calculator to make predictions.
