This lesson builds on student's understanding of proportional relationships and scaling in two dimensions. Students will connect understanding of scale factors and dimensions of similar rectangles. This builds towards solving problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, as well as working with proportions using fractional amounts. Big Ideas: Recognize that corresponding parts of similar figures have a proportional relationship. Compute missing lengths of similar figures by multiplying or dividing by a scale factor.
