In this lesson, students will use their skills to analyze figurative language and determine the author's message. Readers will also analyze how certain phrases contribute to the development of the ideas. There are some difficult vocabulary terms in this lesson, students should be encouraged to use a dictionary to explore these words and have several discussions to ensure understanding. Further, this section also includes some Old English (the term 'hath') so students will need to understand the usage of that language. This series of close reading lesson plans was created by a member of the 2015 Delaware Dream Team. Special Materials: Students will need a copy of the anchor text.
