2M3 C17 L85 Syllable Match (all phases)

Syllable Match

Teacher Preparation:

  • Teacher assigns or prepares to display the activity.

Procedure:

  1. Teacher models the activity by choosing one syllable, reading the syllable aloud. Teacher models dragging the syllable into a box.
  2. Teacher looks for another syllable to add to the first syllable to make a word, dragging it to the same box. Teacher models reading the two syllables together to make a word.
  3. Students repeat the process as time allows.
  4. Students can write some of the words by typing in the text boxes found on the "Write Words" tab or by using paper and pencil.
  5. Possible words include: ostrich, pitcher, kitchen, spinach, hopscotch, lunchbox.
