 Syllable Match Variation

Teacher Preparation:

  • Teacher assigns or prepares to display the activity.

Procedure:

  1. Teacher models the activity by reading the first word. Review how to divide the word into syllables. Consider dividing syllables by starting at the end and counting back three letters and then dividing the word. Students can remember this with the rhyme “‘-le’ count back three.”
  2. Teacher breaks the word into two syllables and models typing each syllable into the appropriate box.
  3. Students begin by reading the next word, breaking it into syllables, and typing each syllable into the appropriate box.
  4. Repeat as time allows.
  5. Students can check work by clicking on the "Check your work" tab.
