This lesson includes the last major concept needed for students to answer the culminating writing task on Day 5. At this point in the unit, students have determined how rocks form, change, and become fossils. This lesson focuses on how natural forces cause changes in rocks that allow scientists to uncover fossils. Students will look at how the author uses real-world examples to illustrate the scientific concepts covered in this section of the text. In the focus question, "How does the author use evidence to support the idea that the Grand Canyon is constantly changing?" students will independently respond in writing using evidence from the text. Special Materials: Students will need a copy of the anchor text.
