 Blending Boxes

Teacher Preparation:

  • Teacher assigns or prepares to display the activity.

Procedure:

  1. Teacher demonstrates with the word “pig”:
    1. Teacher says each phoneme separately while dragging a chip into each box (/p/ /i/ /g/)
    2. Teacher blends phonemes together while dragging the mouse or sliding finger under boxes and says word
      aloud: “pig”
  2. Student repeats with words provided by teacher.
  3. Words can include: can, pet, tin, got, fun, past, lend, clam, flat (any CVC, CVCC, CCVC words).
  4. Repeat as time allows.
