1M2 C7 L39 You've Got Mail: /y/, "y" says /i/ (Partial Alphabetic)

 You've Got Mail!

Teacher Preparation:

  • Teacher assigns or prepares to display the activity.

Procedure:

  1. Teacher models the activity by choosing one picture, saying the word aloud. Teacher drags the card to the appropriate mailbox sorting by the /y/ sound or when "y" says the long /i/ sound.
  2. Students begin by choosing a picture and “reading it,” and then deciding in which mailbox to place it. Teacher observes and helps students as needed.
  3. Repeat as time allows.
  4. Students can write some of the words by typing in the text boxes under the correct mailbox on the "Write Words" tab or by using paper and pencil.
