This lesson focuses on the big ideas of how camouflage wizards create their amazing colors. This section of the text is full of abstract words that are essential to understanding the big ideas. Visualization in this section of the text is essential for understanding abstract concepts. The understanding of abstract vocabulary through visual representation will strengthen students' understanding of the text. This lesson will support students in the culminating activity. The day begins with a read aloud of the section, "Changing Colors", on pages 3-4. Students are then asked to read this section of the text independently prior to exploring the text-dependent questions. Students will stop and jot important details on the student guided notes sheet independently. The focus question should be also be completed independently.
