Big Ideas: Protractors can be used to draw precise angles of specific degree measure. Angles in polygons can be measured and drawn precisely using a protractor. This lesson continues to build on knowledge of angle measurement and problem solving skills, while focusing on measuring angles to precise degrees. Much attention will be giving to the mathematical practice standard, attending to precision by using a protractor strategically. The task in this lesson requires that students begin to think about the angles of polygons, rather than angles only in isolation. The concepts developed in this lesson will support future learning of angle measurement as additive. Vocabulary: protractor, degree, arc, polygon, parallelogram Special Materials: Protractor, straightedge optional
