Syllable Smorgasbord

Teacher Preparation:

  • Teacher assigns or prepares to display the activity.

Procedure:

  1. Teacher models the activity by choosing one card from the pile, saying the word aloud.
    Teacher claps out the syllables and places the card in the appropriate column.
  2. Students begin by choosing a card and placing in the correct column.
    Teacher observes and helps students as needed.
  3. Repeat as time allows.
