The purpose of this lesson is to develop the reader’s familiarity with the text’s meaning, and to build a general understanding of the genre. In this lesson, readers will analyze Athené's point of view towards Arachne, a talented weaver. The focus question will allow students to practice the skill of analyzing point of view by looking at specific words the author uses to describe a character's dialogue and actions. By examining Athené's point of view towards Arachne, this lesson will prepare students for the culminating task, which will require them to explain how the author develops the relationship between both characters.
