The main focus of today’s close reading is to deepen student understanding of the influential relationship between Rabbit and Skin Horse. Since Rabbit learns about growth, change, and becoming "Real" through Skin Horse, the information gathered in this section is important to an analysis of the story's theme. It also highlights one way that relationships can have a profound impact on a character's development. Students will mostly be making inferences about the central idea and the effect of particular words and phrases in context.
