In Day 4 of the close reading of this selection, a rereading of the text focuses on a characteristic of the nutritionists at the National Zoo commissary: persistence. Readers will cite evidence from the text to show that the workers at the commissary face many different challenges and continue to find ways to overcome them. This requires readers to find evidence in the text showing how feeding the animals requires a deep understanding of the animals and their tastes, behaviors, and nutritional needs.
