Today's focus question centers on how the stage directions impact a reader's understanding of the characters. The questions in this lesson will focus readers' attention on the discrepancy between what the characters do and what they say. Special Materials: Make sure students have a copy of the text that they can highlight and annotate as they read. Print enough copies of the student note sheet so each student has his/ her own. Notes should be collected at the end of class and used as a formative assessment.
