This is lesson two of a five day close reading of the text, "Benjamin Franklin: Inventor, Printer, Writer." This lesson is key to understanding the character of Benjamin Franklin. The work will allow students to understand multiple main ideas that they will later need to use in the culminating task when they explain how those two ideas are related. Using specific information from the text to support the main ideas scaffolds the explanation about how those ideas are related. Special Materials: A copy of the text for each student, and a copy for the teacher to project on a document camera or overhead projector.
