Students generate a research question to learn more about the 1950s and understand the context in which Fahrenheit 451 was written. Students locate sources, assess sources for their usefulness in answering the research question, and broaden or narrow their research question based on the information from the sources. This prepares students for the extension task at the end of the unit, in which they will engage in a research task and gather relevant information from multiple sources.
